Popular British grinder Simon Deadman capped a fantastic 2014 with a fourth-place finish in the EPT Prague High Roller from 15-17 December at the Hilton Prague Hotel.<\/p>\n
Deadman has had a remarkable 2014, one that is by far his best ever on the live tournament circuit and one that has seen him win more than US$1.16 million. <\/p>\n
Deadman started 2014 as he meant to go on by scooping \u00a370,000 within the first two weeks of the year… reward for a second-place finish in the Genting Poker Series Nottingham main event. <\/p>\n
A couple of weeks later, he followed that up in Deauville with another second-place finish in the \u20ac2,500 buy-in FPS Deauville High Roller, which earned him a further \u20ac87,280.<\/p>\n
Another runner-up finish in February, this time in the GPS Birmingham Main Event for \u00a327,755, made him the butt of countless bridesmaid jokes and he went and made it worse by finishing runner-up in the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour Main Event for \u00a340,000 in Manchester before repeating the feat in Walsall for \u00a323,500.<\/p>\n
But a win was always on the cards for Deadman and he ditched the bridesmaid tag by taking down the US$2,500 Hollywood Poker Open in Las Vegas, before finishing second twice again in a \u20ac330 event at the EPT Grand Final. <\/p>\n
Deadman demolished the 692-strong field in Las Vegas to claim the US$351,097 first place prize, but it was getting the proverbial monkey from his back that was worth far more than the extra zeros on his bank balance.<\/p>\n
A handful of cashes, including a fourth place in the Asia Championship of Poker in Macau, followed Deadman’s victory before he rounded out 2014 in style by finishing fourth in the star-studded \u20ac10,300 EPT Prague High Roller for a cool \u20ac238,320.<\/p>\n
