{"id":3391,"date":"2015-06-09T12:28:46","date_gmt":"2015-06-09T12:28:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.puffapoker.com\/?p=3391"},"modified":"2015-08-16T12:39:15","modified_gmt":"2015-08-16T12:39:15","slug":"gale-blows-away-field-for-wsop-win","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.puffapoker.com\/?p=3391","title":{"rendered":"Gale blows away field for WSOP win"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>It took 18 events but Britain has its first World Series of Poker triumph of 2015 after John Gale took down the WSOP $1,000 NLHE Turbo event.<\/p>\n<p>Gale, from Hertfordshire, pocketed a first prize of US$298,290 after topping a field of 1,791 runners at the Rio.<\/p>\n<p>After eliminating Birmingham&#8217;s Stuart Rutter in fifth, Gale ran over the rest of the table, sending Andrew Le and Matthew Vessier to the rail to set up a heads-up clash with American Gary Luther.<\/p>\n<p>The Englishman started two-handed play with a huge lead and finished off a short-stacked Luther when he pushed with AC-3S, Gale calling with a pair of ducks. The 8H-4H-4D flop offered extra outs for Luther but the 10S and 9C on the turn and river gave Gale the win.<\/p>\n<p>It wasn&#8217;t the first taste of World Series glory for Gale. The 61-year-old won his maiden bracelet in 2006 after taking down the $2,500 Pot-Limit Hold&#8217;em event.
