Michael Richardson picked up \u00a338,000 after winning the final leg of the second Genting Poker Series which took place at Nottingham\u2019s Dusk Till Dawn Poker Club from 9-12 January. Richardson beat a field of 935 runners to take down the biggest GPS tournament to date, but it was Simon Deadman who was the big winner, claiming \u00a370,000 after the final three protagonists cut a deal. Tim Slater took home \u00a342,500 for third place. From the massive entry, 40 players returned for Sunday\u2019s final day with Scotland\u2019s Stuart Giulian leading the field courtesy of a 2,276,000 stack and he still held pole position when the final table sat down. At heads-up, Deadman held a 10-1 advantage with more than 21 million chips, but Richardson was happy to grind it out and claim the title. \u201cIt hasn\u2019t really sunk in yet,” said Richardson. “But I am sure it will in the morning. I\u2019m pretty inexperienced in major tournaments, in fact the only other one I have played was the Genting Poker Series in Newcastle last year and I qualified for this event in a qualifier at that casino this time around. I was always confident about my game though, and I never felt intimidated when Simon and I got to heads-up, even though I was a massive underdog at that stage. I knew I had to pick my shots, and thankfully they all came off.\u201d<\/p>\n
