Lee’s a winner with Hippodrome ladies

The £250+£25 Hippodrome Summer Classic from 11-13 July attracted 166 entries
and a total prize pool of £40,255, with satellite-winner Mike Lee turning his £40 entry fee into a win with the ladies.

Lee pocketed £6,800 after a three-hour heads-up battle when his pocket queens held against Paul Romain's AJ. Lee overturning a 2.5m to 1.6m chip disadvantage at the start of heads-up play to take the Classic crown.

But, having agreed a deal six-handed, Romain took home the lion's share of the money... a tidy £8,000. Charles Akadiri and Paul Zimbler also dealt at the right time bagging £4,880 and £4,000 respectively for fifth and sixth place. James Koumis finished third for £3,800 and George Evans fourth for £3,500.
