Williams scoops the loot in Reading 25/25

There were 66 players who returned for day two of the 25/25 Series event at the G Casino in Reading from 29-31 August, with Sean Williams winning the heads-up battle with Mark McCloughlan for the title and £3,030 after a four-handed deal was reached that saw them both pocket £7,000 along with Kelly Saxby and Will Kassouf.

With 233 entries bringing a £46,600 prize pool, the average stack at the start of day two was 88,250 and action was thick and fast as the event approached the final table.

Ellie Biessek went out on the bubble after she shoved with Q-10 on an A-Q-2 flop and was snapped off by Kassouf and on the other table Williams eliminated Dave Chapman in a massive hand after Chapman moved all-in on a flop of 8-4-2 with A-J, which Williams called with queens.

That left a final table of eight, with Chapman going out in ninth for £980.

Williams was the chip leader on 1,769,0001, with Kassouf close behind on 1,303,000 and Paul Bampton third on 609,000. Terry Mitford was fourth in chips with 517,000, with McCloughlan next on 471,000 and Saxby sixth on 445,000. That left Ahrar Hussain on 394,000 and Stewart Kirby the short stack on 219,000.

Kirby was the first elimination, followed by Hussain who was sent to the rail after he shoved his short stack trying to steal from Williams on the button. Mitford exited in sixth with an ace against Kassouf's pocket pair and Bampton finished fifth after getting involved in a hand with Kassouf who had aces.

Kassouf was the next exit having brokered his way to a £7,000 payout before shoving with J-10 against Williams with A-Q, which improved to trips with a queen on the flop and turn.

Saxby missed out on the heads-up battle for the trophy, with McCloughlan finishing runner-up and Williams, the 25/25 Series Reading champion, taking home £10,030.
