Sweeney bags the loot in Vic raid

Barry Sweeney won the London leg of the 25/25 Series after a five-handed deal at The Poker Room at the Victoria Casino in London.

A total of 387 entries generated a prize pool of £77,400, with Sweeney taking the biggest slice after pocketing £13,340.

There were 101 players who made it through to day two at the Vic, with Hasan Ali the chip leader on 260,200 followed by Chi Tsang on 248,700, Paul Bahbout on 247,400, Ahrar Hussain with 234,300 and Neil McCulloch on 220,100.

Neither Ali nor Hussain made the money, with Tsang picking up £250 after busting out in 25th place and McCulloch the first to exit the final table in 10th place for £1,160.

There was also a place for Bahbout at the final table, where he was also joined by Lucia Navarro Martinez and Tamer Kamel who had been among the shorter of the stacks returning for the second day's play. Navarro Martinez began the day on 48,000, with Kamel on just over double that with 96,200.

Charalampos Lappas, Amber Glasby, Adam Kossew, Samuel Hensa, William Davies and Sweeney were the others to navigate their way to the final 10, having all returned with more than half of Bahbout's stack.

Davies was the second out for £1,395, Navarro Martinez doing well to finish in eighth place for £1,700 and Lappas pocketing £2,015 for his seventh-place finish. Hensa left with £2,555 and that left Bahbout, Sweeney, Kossew, Kamel and Glasby to reach a deal which saw Bahbout secure £11,000 and then exit in fifth place.

Glasby's fourth-place finish earned her £8,000 and Kamel pocketed £9,500 for third, runner-up Kossew receiving £10,500 and champion Sweeney taking home £13,340.
