Briton Goulder takes Prague top spot

Britain's Alex Goulder claimed the WPT Prague title and €105,000 after a gruelling 115-hand heads-up battle with Sweden's Niclas Adolfsson.

A total of 19 players returned for Day 3 at the King's Casino in Prague, with World Series of Poker bracelet-winner Simeon Naydenov the chip leader on 821,000 and Goulder with just over half his stack on 484,000.

But by the time the eight-handed final table was set Goulder had reversed that situation as he was now the man out in front on 2.6m and Bulgarian Naydenov was in third place on 1.1m.

They were separated by Zo Karim on 1.6m, with fellow American's Chris Hunichen and Andy Seth on 423k and 385k respectively. Germany's Sebastian Langrock was fourth in chips on 833k, with Alexander Lakhov from Russia on 436k and Adolfsson the short stack on 227k.

Hunichen was the first faller from the final eight after bluffing away half his stack and then running his pocket sevens into the rockets of both Goulder and Adolfsson. The 6S-KH-8H-KS-10D saw his remaining chips shared between the Briton and the Swede.

WPT Cyprus 2014 champion Lakhov bowed out in seventh place, his AS-9S unable to improve against the AH-JD of Seth. The Ameican also accounted for Naydenov, who busted in sixth place with KD-QH against Seth's full house with AS-QD.

Karim never managed to get anything running on the final table, eventually bowing out in fifth place after calling all-in with KS-3S in a battle of the blinds against Goulder. Goulder's JD-7C improved with a jack on the flop and he finished Karim off with a four-card flush on the river.

Seth then lost a coin flip with pocket nines for almost even stacks against Langrock's AS-QD on a 4H-3C-AD board to finish in fourth place, with the German experiencing a similar scenario with pocket tens against Adolfsson's AS-KC and the heads-up stage was set.

Goulder started the duel with a 2-1 advantage, almost finished off Adolfsson but the Swede then doubled up twice to move in front.

It was then Goulder's turn to score two double-ups before dealing the final blow in a pre-flop all-in with AS-8H against Adolfsson's KH-10H, the board running out 6C-QH-7D-3S-JH.
