Brum deal makes Johnson top dog

The opening leg of the new Genting Poker Series season saw Chris Johnson become the first to join the 2015 roll of honour.

Johnson, who took down the PokerStars Sunday Million in April last year for more than US$191k, topped a 404-runner field at Star City in Birmingham from 2-8 February.

Johnson dominated the final table and after Thomas Clack exited in fourth the final trio agreed a chop which would eventually see Hui Jin and Irishman Tony McTiernan (who was down to three big blinds at one stage) take £22,880 apiece and Johnson £37,000.

With all but £380 sewn up, it didn't take long for Johnson to seal victory, busting Jin first with poocket tens against Q8, then stacking McTiernan when his pocket threes held against 10-7.
