Hanlon bags Dublin Live Local

The Live Local Series hit Dublin from 19-22 February, with Colm Hanlon the winner of the 888-sponsored event.

The tour, which started life in London at the start of the month, attracted a field of 170 entries, generating a total prize pool of €32,980 for a €200, plus €20, buy-in event.

The tournament attracted some of Irish poker's biggest names, including Donnacha O'Dea, Fintan Gavin and WSOP finalist Andy Black, but it was Hanlon who scooped the top prize of €7,200 and the trophy with Black finishing in sixth place for €2,000.

After carrying the chip lead into the finale, Hanlon was able to sit back and watch the drama unfold before making his move. A few well-timed bets helped him contribute to the demise of Bryan Nicholson in third place before Justin Boyle received the same treatment heads-up

A brief exchange between Hanlon and Boyle resulted in the former moving all-in with pocket threes and the latter calling with pocket 10s. With the poker gods unwilling to save Boyle, the winner's trophy and €7,200 made its way to Hanlon after the board ran out AC-4D-9H-4S-4C.

The opening Live Local event took place at the Aspers Casino in Stratford, London, from 29 January to 1 February.

The £200, plus £20, event attracted a massive 609 entries for a total prize pool of £120,570, which smashed the £50,000 guarantee.

The winner in London was Terence Jordon, who scooped a whopping £14,490, with Ali Zihni second for £13,930 and Mantas Zeringis third for £13,370.
