Mohammed Istakhar Sadiq walked away with £11,300 and the title after winning the £50,000 guaranteed Six Max tournament at Dusk Till Dawn from 20-23 March 2014.
Among the 192 runners were some of the country’s top poker talent including Matt Perrins, Willie Tann and Paul Jackson, but it was Sadiq who took top honours.
Mike Cummins was the first of Sunday’s final table lineup to hit the rail, closely followed by Martyn Frey. He was followed out of the tournament by reigning European Poker Tour Barcelona champion Tom Middleton, whose exit sparked talk of a potential deal among the final three players, which included former professional BMX racer Liam Batey, Gary Strang and Sadiq.
But Batey turned down the ICM-based deal only to bust out in third place, leaving Strang and Sadiq to battle it out heads up for the title.
