Chaplin APAT WCOAP main event champion

The APAT 2014 World Championship Of Amateur Poker (WCOAP) was held at the Aspers Casino Westfield, London, from 15-21 April 2014, with Tristan Chaplin the WCOAP Main Event champion.

When the nine-handed final table was reached Guy Taylor had 280,000 chips, Anthony Gale 1.2m, Stephen Howell 565,000, Claire MacGregor 900,000, Levente Varga 920,000, Rob Quinn 575,000 Dan Crabbe 1m, Chaplin 725,000 and Rod Davies 325,000.

Taylor was first out, followed by Crabbe, Davies, MacGregor, Howell and Quinn, until three-handed play spanned across a couple of blind levels and ended when Chaplin made a great call to send Gale to the rail.

Due to Chaplin holding 5.9 million of the 6.6 million chips in play, heads-up was a brief encounter with Chaplin understandably coming out on top against Varga.

In addition to the £7,500 in prize money, Chaplin also secured a gold medal, a championship bracelet, a trip to Las Vegas and €150 of tournament entries at Coral’s online poker arm.

In the Heads-Up event, also held on the final day of the festival, Pak To was crowned champion, picking up £1,120 after edging out Raphael Augustin in the final round.

Earlier in the week Ngoc Van Nguyen won the £50 No Limit championship, with Fred Bekker taking down the £50 Stud championship.

Bruce Salmon was crowned High Roller champion, with Christopher Webber winning the £50 No Limit Hold'em-Pot Limit Omaha championship, Andrea Canil the £50 No Limit Hold'em Ante Only championship and Maxcel Verdugo becoming HORSE champion.

David Bradbury took the Shootout title, Matthew Kirkby the Six Max and Rieuwert Fleer, from the Netherlands, won the Razz championship.

Derek Rowland was crowned Pot Limit Omaha Hi-Lo champ, Paresh Mahendra took the Pot Limit Omaha title and David Rudling-Smith the Cash Tournament.

France led by Jean-Michel Ballocchi were crowned Team champions and Liam Crawford won the invite-only Season Seven Champions of Champions Las Vegas package!
