Corrigan takes top spot in Walsall

There were 52 players who returned to the G Casino in Walsall for day two of the 25/25 Series from 27-29 June, with only Michael Corrigan surviving until the end of it... £7,250 richer and the proud recipient of the 25/25 Walsall trophy.

A total of 179 entries contributed to a healthy £35,980 prize pool, with Corrigan beating Andrew Probyn heads-up for the title after a four-handed deal had seen all the remaining players lock up £5,000, with £4,250 and the title still to be claimed.

Jatinder Purewal was the man to go out in fourth when Probyn hit a jack on the flop after both players got their chips in pre-flop with Purewal on A-K and Probyn on A-J.

Ioannis Liperas finished in third place after going all-in with A-K against Corrigan's jacks, which held to leave Probyn and Corrigan heads-up and agreeing to split the remaining prize money with £250 and the trophy to the winner. The final hand saw both players get their chips all-in pre-flop with Probyn holding A-K and Corrigan KH-QH and rivering a flush on a 9C-5H-6H-10D-3H board to be crowned Walsall 25/25 champion.

Michael Brown went out in fifth place for £1,900 after moving all-in on a K-6-7 board with K-Q but running into Probyn with 6-7 for two pair.

Clint Jones was the man to exit in sixth for £1,400, with Neil Wyatt picking up £1,140 for seventh place and Vaidas Sirionas collecting £970 for eighth.

The first casualty of the final table was Pete Djiallis, who moved all-in pre-flop for 97,000 with an ace but was called by Sirionas, who hit a queen on the flop.
