Valkyunas makes a Mint at the Cromwell

Martynas Valkyunas has won leg 12 of the 888 Super Stack Series event at the Genting Cromwell Mint in London from 28-30 November, scooping a £5,750 first prize.

A total of 118 entries generated a £18,450 prizepool, with 39 players making it through to Day 2.

Valkyunas started the day as one of the shorter stacks on 62,800, with Peter Djordjevic a big chip leader on 244,900, Rufo Suarez second in chips on 220,200, Mark Greening third on 184,800, Luis Alves fourth on 151,500 and Alim Shamji in fifth place with 150,600.

Djordjevic, Suarez, Alves and Shamji all made the final table, with Greening finishing in 14th place for £280.

Zhang had started the day on 122,100 chips, about half that of Djordjevic, with the final table completed by Don Roberts (who'd returned with 78,600 chips), John Squibb (who started with 123,000) and Annie Solomon, who began the day on 22,800, the second smallest stack.

Shamji, who led the qualifiers from flight 1C was the first to exit, with Solomon second out and Suarez the third to depart in seventh place.

Alves exited in sixth, with Squibb fifth and Djordjevic fourth, Roberts missing out on the heads-up duel that saw Valkyunas beat Zhang for the title.
