Barrena bags UKIPT Marbella title

There was a Spanish clean sweep of the top four places when the UK and Ireland Poker headed off for its summer holiday in Marbella from 17-21 June.

Isidoro Barrena topped a bumper field of 815 players for the €1,100 Main Event in Marbella, bagging €150,800 for his efforts after beating compatriot Jose Angel Latorre heads-up for the title.

Barrena topped a final table that included Holland's Jeffrey Brouwer, Austria's David Vedral and Britain's Sam Grafton, before seeing off Latorre in the final showdown.

After a swingy heads-up battle which saw the lead change several times, Latorre was at risk when he moved all-in with A-J against Barrena's A-Q. A queen on the flop sealed the deal and gave Barrena a career-best payout of €150,800.
