The third leg of the Full Tilt International Poker Open Tour attracted 166 entrants to Aspers Casino in Newcastle from 21-23 August to produce a prize pool of £24,900, with Ali Ahmed taking the £6,300 top prize after beating James Maxwell heads-up.
Ahmed (pictured above) follows in the footsteps of Dave Masters and Keith Cummins, who won the first two legs in Bray and Cork respectively.
Masters became the tour's first champion on its debut stop in Ireland from 22-24 May at the refurbished Star Casino in Bray.
After a fierce heads-up battle battle with Dave Harris, Masters conquered a field of 184 to take home US$9,012.
Keith Cummins was a deserving winner at the Macau Sporting Club in Cork from 10-12 July, overcoming 197 entrants to take the lion's share of a US$42,946 prize pool.
Cummins was in a dominant position from the early levels of the tournament right to the end, bagging $10,790 after beating Dave Pollock heads-up.
